Nutrition-Healthy Eating For Losing Weight

Camp La Jolla is NOT a diet program. Our successful method is NOT a diet, but a self-rewarding, proven and effective approach to a new lifestyle! Eating healthy doesn't mean cutting out all of your favorite foods and replacing them with “diet” foods; it is about moderation and portion control all the while enjoying the foods you love. At Camp La Jolla, we show you how to prepare well-balanced meals, understand and use portion control, and guide you on how to create a healthy meal plan that works with your schedule at home.

Carly Fenner our Registered Dietitian, has been working with Camp La Jolla for the past 5 years. She graduated with a BS in Dietetics from the University of Vermont, Burlington, VT. Carly was also chosen to participate in the Dietetics Internship Program at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She is actively expanding our Follow-Up Program and providing monthly menus to Camp families to encourage healthy eating.

Camp La Jolla follows the guidelines set by the American Dietetic Association and American Heart Association for a healthy, well-balanced meal plan that offers a wide variety of choices. You can be assured our highly qualified, competent staff will do everything to help you achieve your weight loss goals. We also provide education and instruction on the proper selection of foods that are nutritionally sound and guidance on weight management.

Camp La Jolla believes that hands on experience is a tool for learning. We incorporate nutrition education in a variety of ways: from an interactive classroom setting to cooking demonstrations, meal preparations, restaurant eating and supermarket shopping. Each camper also has the opportunity to participate in the food serving line. This experience supports the fundamentals of portion control, food variations, and the food exchange groups.
