Wellspring La Jolla campers have every reason to look forward to a summer of dramatic improvements in fitness and weight loss.  Year after year, Wellspring campers have successfully lost an average of 4 lbs. per week. And 70% of campers maintain or continue their weight loss at home.

The reason?  We offer a fitness and weight loss program for children, adolescents and adults based on decades of scientific research and experience.  This research has proven the core elements necessary for an intensive weight loss program that is easy for campers of all ages to incorporate into their lives once they return home.

Long term healthy lifestyle

At Wellspring Camp La Jolla, campers are trained on the Wellspring Plan, a simple, sustainable, and scientific approach to a healthy lifestyle that has been presented at scientific conferences, published in journals and covered by major media organizations around the world.

Low-Fat Diet:
Campers love the food at Wellspring Camp La Jolla! Campers enjoy a low-fat, low-density diet that is nutritious, delicious and keeps them fueled for days full of activity. This diet satisfies hunger and is the optimal diet to counteract the biological and environmental factors that contribute to weight gain.

We know that campers will be more successful long-term if the food they eat at camp is familiar to them, so meals and snacks are primarily healthier versions of the food kids already eat. Campers learn to cook the same foods they eat at camp, to shop for these foods in grocery stores, and to order these foods in restaurants.

Weight Loss Camp

Activity Management:  Campers achieve at least 10,000 steps each day through walks, fitness classes, and a vast range of exciting activities, games, and beach sports that campers are likely to continue at home. Many of our campers exceed 20,000 or more steps per day.

Lifestyle Change: Wellspring Camp La Jolla recognizes that long-term weight loss requires some major changes in campers’ behavior—changes that are difficult at any age. Weight Loss Camp

Family Involvement: Family involvement is an important factor in long-term weight loss success.  For this reason, we invite families to join us free of charge at two-day Family Workshops offered twice over the course of the summer at Wellspring Camp La Jolla.  During the Family Workshops, parents learn the science behind the Wellspring Plan, participate in weight loss activities, enjoy culinary demonstrations, make plans for their child’s continued success at home, and set and monitor their own diet and activity goals. Weight Loss Camp

Continuing Care: Wellspring Camp La Jolla is focused on long-term weight loss and healthy living.  In support of that goal, all campers have a full year of our renowned Continuing Care Program, which provides online support from each camper’s Life Coach, including goal setting, self-monitoring of diet and activity, and weigh-ins, plus a number of motivational tools to keep campers working toward their long-term weight loss goals.
